Employees at Cardiff-based outsourcing contact centre Conduit are aiming to top the £110,000 Sport Relief donations calls the company took in 2009 with their efforts this year.
A total of 130 volunteers from across the Conduit staff base will man 100 phone lines at their Cardiff Hodge House site on the evening of the 19th March helped by volunteers from other local employers including the DVLA, Virgin Media, Vertex, the Wales Contact Centre Forum, Working Word Public Relations, Draig Recruitment and GMAC.
Sport Relief has been running biennially since 2002 as a joint effort between Comic Relief and BBC Sport, raising money to help vulnerable people in the UK and world’s poorest countries.
Neil Evans, managing director at Conduit said: “We at Conduit are always very keen to help charitable causes by providing phone lines and willing volunteers, and I am always bowled over by the generosity our staff and others show in donating their time.
“In addition the phone lines we are manning a number of our staff are taking part in fundraising activities including a cake stall, raffle and sponsored leg waxing to name a few!
“The evening looks set to be entertaining and enjoyable and I wish the team all the best, I am very confident that we can help Sport Relief raise even more than last year with our efforts.
“A big thank you to all the volunteers and generous donations we have received for the raffle for the evening.”
Volunteers will be treated to a buffet and entertainment, a luxury free raffle with, among the many prizes on offer, limited edition Sky boxes, and Dancing on Ice tickets with donations supplied by Sky, Devine Wines, Tiger Tiger, the Vale Hotel, Draig Recruitment, Covent Garden flowers and the Park Plaza Hotel.
